It would be great if you could detail out the differences between your implementation of NTLM protocol and commons http client 3.1.
I am currently facing an issue on one of the windows machine where the commons-http-client implementation fails but the implementation you provided succeeds. The server uses NTLM v1 (I am aware of the fact that commons http client 3.1 implementation does not support NTLM v2)

The path separator char depends upon the operating system: it is a colon(:) on unix-like systems and a semi-colon(;) on Windows/DOS-derivates.

I think there must be a colon(:) instead of semi colon(;) while adding classpath with java -cp command. For me, it only worked with (:).I am using ubuntu.
